But if in any book about 1400 years ago, the child is encouraged to feed the mother&#8217;s breast milk again and again, then it has to be surprised. And if that book is not a medical book but a religious book, then the level of surprise increases even more. Yes, that great book is Al-Quran. Where in not one or two but about 4 verses the child is told to breastfeed. And how long and how to breastfeed the baby is also conveyed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first verse in the Quran regarding breastfeeding is Surah Baqarah verse 233-<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/df61994948e9a54a5259-ad04094bac72ed4d481dba65a1920e88.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com\/2_233.png\" alt=\"Breastfeeding in the Quran.\u00a0\u00a0 Surah Baqarah verse 233 2:233\" width=\"421\" height=\"285\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>And childbearing women shall breastfeed their children for two full years if they wish to complete the full period of breastfeeding . And the responsibility of all those women who have children, that is, the father, is according to the conventional rules.<\/strong><\/span> No one is subjected to pressure beyond his capacity.\u00a0A mother cannot be harmed for her child.\u00a0And the one whose child is not to be harmed because of his child.\u00a0And this is the responsibility of the heirs.\u00a0Then if the parents wish, they can wean them within two years by mutual consultation, there is no sin on them,<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u00a0and if you wish to have your children nursed by a midwife,<\/strong> <\/span>then there is no sin in that if you give it in customary exchange. And fear Allah and know that Allah sees all your deeds very well. [ Surah Baqarah 2 :233 ]\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Breastfeeding in the Quran.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In this verse, Almighty Allah has told to breast feed the child for two whole years.\u00a0And if for some reason it is not possible for the mother to breastfeed the child, then the child is asked to drink milk even if necessary with the help of a midwife.\u00a0Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) drank the milk of Bibi Halima, the midwife.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The next verse is Surah Lokman verse 14. And here also the child is asked to breastfeed for two years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/df61994948e9a54a5259-ad04094bac72ed4d481dba65a1920e88.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com\/31_14.png\" alt=\"Breastfeeding in the Quran.\u00a0\u00a0 31:14 Surah Lokman verse 14\" width=\"533\" height=\"98\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">And We have commanded people to \u02f9honour\u02fa their parents. Their mothers bore them through hardship upon hardship, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>and their weaning takes two years.<\/strong><\/span> So be grateful to Me and your parents.\u00a0To Me is the final return.\u00a0[ Surah Luqman 31:14 ]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After that, in verse 15 of Surah Ahkaf, it is mentioned about feeding the baby.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/df61994948e9a54a5259-ad04094bac72ed4d481dba65a1920e88.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com\/46_15.png\" alt=\"46:15\" width=\"503\" height=\"242\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until,<\/strong> <\/span>when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, &#8220;My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims. [ Surah Ahqaf 46:15 ]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Breastfeeding in the Quran.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Interestingly, in the previous two verses, the Quran mentions breastfeeding the child for two years. However, Surah Ahqaf specifies the combined period of pregnancy and breastfeeding as 30 months. Almighty Allah intends to convey a unique message here. According to Surah Baqarah and Surah Luqman, the Quran emphasizes that the mother should breastfeed her child for two years, equivalent to 24 months. Notably, these verses do not mention pregnancy.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"w-full text-token-text-primary\" data-testid=\"conversation-turn-3\">\n<div class=\"px-4 py-2 justify-center text-base md:gap-6 m-auto\">\n<div class=\"flex flex-1 text-base mx-auto gap-3 md:px-5 lg:px-1 xl:px-5 md:max-w-3xl lg:max-w-[40rem] xl:max-w-[48rem] group final-completion\">\n<div class=\"relative flex w-full flex-col lg:w-[calc(100%-115px)] agent-turn\">\n<div class=\"flex-col gap-1 md:gap-3\">\n<div class=\"flex flex-grow flex-col max-w-full\">\n<div class=\"min-h-[20px] text-message flex flex-col items-start gap-3 whitespace-pre-wrap break-words [.text-message+&amp;]:mt-5 overflow-x-auto\" data-message-author-role=\"assistant\" data-message-id=\"f58234c2-77d8-4cc0-9b53-20ffb0098289\">\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">However, in Surah Ahqaf, it is stated that the total duration of pregnancy and breastfeeding is 30 months. The Quran instructs that the child should be breastfed for 24 months. Deducting this from the total duration, we get 30 &#8211; 24 = 6 months. This implies that if a mother delivers a premature baby at 6 months gestation, she is still advised to breastfeed the baby for the full two years or 24 months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It&#8217;s important to note that the Quran encourages providing breast milk even to premature babies. We are aware that the age of viability for a fetus is typically considered to be around 6 to 7 months, meaning that a premature baby born before 6 months has a significantly lower chance of survival. Despite this, the Quran emphasizes the importance of breastfeeding, even for such premature infants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.dribbble.com\/users\/1052424\/screenshots\/7253646\/media\/0eeeacb5ef0cb36c04dea2876b8ae989.jpg?resize=400x300&amp;vertical=center\" alt=\"Breastfeeding in the Quran\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Photo: According to the verses of the Quran, a mother can breastfeed a 6-month-old pre-mature child for 24 months or 2 years.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Verse 6 of Surah Talaq says-<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/df61994948e9a54a5259-ad04094bac72ed4d481dba65a1920e88.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com\/65_6.png\" alt=\"Breastfeeding in the Quran 65:6\" width=\"562\" height=\"224\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Give them the kind of house you live in according to your ability.\u00a0Do not endanger them by suffering.\u00a0If they are pregnant, will bear their expenses till delivery.\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>If they breastfeed your children\u00a0, give them due remuneration and consult each other in moderation\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>If you insist on each other\u00a0, the other woman will breastfeed\u00a0.\u00a0[\u00a0Surah Talaq 65:6\u00a0]<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">That is, even after divorcing the wife, the responsibility of the child&#8217;s father is to take responsibility for the child&#8217;s breastfeeding.\u00a0Even if the mother does not want to breastfeed, the child should be breastfed with the help of another woman if necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But we have seen how in the Qur&#8217;an God Almighty has repeatedly encouraged the child to breastfeed.\u00a0A 1400 year old scripture encouraging babies to breastfeed is incredibly common and miraculous.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"flex-1 overflow-hidden\">\n<div class=\"react-scroll-to-bottom--css-cjkhl-79elbk h-full\">\n<div class=\"react-scroll-to-bottom--css-cjkhl-1n7m0yu\">\n<div class=\"flex flex-col pb-9 text-sm\">\n<div class=\"w-full text-token-text-primary\" data-testid=\"conversation-turn-7\">\n<div class=\"px-4 py-2 justify-center text-base md:gap-6 m-auto\">\n<div class=\"flex flex-1 text-base mx-auto gap-3 md:px-5 lg:px-1 xl:px-5 md:max-w-3xl lg:max-w-[40rem] xl:max-w-[48rem] group final-completion\">\n<div class=\"relative flex w-full flex-col lg:w-[calc(100%-115px)] agent-turn\">\n<div class=\"flex-col gap-1 md:gap-3\">\n<div class=\"flex flex-grow flex-col max-w-full\">\n<div class=\"min-h-[20px] text-message flex flex-col items-start gap-3 whitespace-pre-wrap break-words [.text-message+&amp;]:mt-5 overflow-x-auto\" data-message-author-role=\"assistant\" data-message-id=\"52285709-18f6-45d1-9ed2-b4f6efbe0a65\">\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We will follow the essence of the four verses above, then we will see the guidance given by the Quran\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is recommended to breastfeed for two years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If it is not possible for the child to breastfeed from the mother&#8217;s breast, the wet nurse&#8217;s milk should be given.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is advised to breastfeed for two years in the case of premature baby.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the case of divorce, the father should bear the cost of breastfeeding, and the mother should allow the baby to be breastfed, or if the baby is in the custody of another woman, the father should compensate for the breastfeeding expenses. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the Quran, Allah repeatedly emphasizes the act of breastfeeding for a child. What we have seen is the source of guidance in this matter.
